You may have seen a recent KFOR News segment about ASTEC’s driveline. We’d like to clarify a few points and share accurate information with our families and neighbors.
Current Driveline Times
Our Shepherd Mall driveline begins at 3:35 p.m. and typically ends by 4:10 p.m. The report stating that it starts at 2:00 p.m. and ends after 4:00 p.m. was not accurate. While some parents arrive early, this is not part of school operations, and we continue to remind families not to line up ahead of time.
Future Campus
When our new middle and high school opens next to the elementary campus next fall, drivelines will not be combined. Each school will have staggered start/end times and separate entrances and exits, designed with the help of professional traffic engineers.
Continuous Improvements
Driveline is a challenge faced by schools everywhere, especially in the first days of a new school year. With this year’s significant growth and the daily rains, the learning curve has been steeper—but we are already seeing improvement each day.
At ASTEC, we take our responsibility to our students, families, and neighbors seriously. We are committed to refining our current driveline and ensuring a smooth transition to our new campus.
