Helping Every Scholar Become a Strong Reader
The Oklahoma Strong Readers Act supports early literacy by helping schools identify scholars who may need additional reading support and provide targeted instruction and intervention.

What Families Should Know
Under the Strong Readers Act, scholars in kindergarten through third grade receive regular reading screenings throughout the school year. These assessments help teachers identify scholars who are meeting grade-level expectations and those who may benefit from additional support.
When a scholar is identified as needing additional reading support, ASTEC works with families to provide appropriate intervention and monitor the scholar’s progress.
