ASTEC Charter Schools is excited to announce the construction of a new middle and high school at the same site as the newly built elementary school at 2600 General Pershing Boulevard. The project begins June 1 with an expected 20 to 22-month completion date. 

The funding for the new construction, a significant milestone for our community, comes from more than 64 million dollars in tax-exempt bonds. The process was extensive and years in the making.

When asked about the project, ASTEC's CEO and founder Dr. Freda Deskin said, "Today is a remarkable day for ASTEC and a proud moment to be a Comet! This day, nearly 25 years in the making, has finally arrived. I am so happy ASTEC scholars will enjoy an environment conducive to learning with light from large windows and state-of-the-art construction and technology."

As the first start-up charter in Oklahoma, ASTEC has leased space from Shepherd (Mall) Center for the past 24 years.
