The Advanced Science and Technology Education Charter Schools (ASTEC), is a PreK-12 state-accredited, tuition-free, open-enrollment public school of choice. ASTEC was founded by Dr. Freda Deskin in 2000 as the first start-up charter school in the state.
ASTEC integrates technology into a liberal arts curriculum focusing on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (S.T.E.A.M.). ASTEC actively teaches and emphasizes the values of character, manners, proper etiquette, social and cultural awareness, a strong work ethic, and entrepreneurship.
Excellence, accountability, and the safety and academics of its scholars are a priority. Mutual respect is expected and seen throughout the school by the teachers, administrators, and support staff.
